Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee, Professional Clinical Counselor Trainee

Sahar views therapy not as a place for quick fixes, but as a grounded, collaborative space where real growth takes root. As a first-generation Afghan American, her personal lived experience deeply shapes her clinical approach, giving her a nuanced understanding of cultural identity, generational dynamics, family expectations, and the complexities of navigating multiple worlds. She creates an environment where clients are invited to explore themselves without judgment, meeting clients exactly where they are and progressing at a pace that feels natural and empowering for them.

Her clinical background spans diverse therapeutic settings, providing her with experience supporting children, teens, and adults navigating complex mental health challenges. Prior to One Life, Sahar completed clinical training within the child and youth clinic divisions of San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS). She also brings a strong foundation from her work as a behavioral therapist for youth on the autism spectrum.

In her practice, Sahar blends evidence-based approaches tailored to each person's unique story. Drawing heavily on systemic frameworks like Structural Family Therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS), she helps clients untangle relational dynamics, understand their internal parts, and process deep-seated emotions. Her approach is client-centered, practical, and deeply attuned to the cultural and intergenerational narratives each person brings into the room.

Outside of the therapy room, she remains grounded by staying active and spending quality time with loved ones. In her free time, she enjoys playing pickleball, exploring hiking trails, visiting local coffee shops, or unwinding with a good movie.
