My name is Gabriela Jeannette Melendez Martinez, and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). I recently graduated from Santa Clara University with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, where I focused on Latinx Counseling. During my clinical training, I had the opportunity to work with adolescents, transitional youth and their families in both school-based and community mental health settings for clients needing higher level of care. I enjoyed working alongside young people of Latine and all backgrounds as they navigated peer relationships, family dynamics, stress, and the many challenges that can come with growing up. This fall, I will be working with students in the Sequoia Union High School District and the Redwood City School District as well.
My areas of interest include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), family systems, and person-centered therapy. I also have experience providing therapy in both English and Spanish as I am a bilingual clinician and value being able to support clients and families in the language they feel most comfortable using.
I feel very fortunate to be beginning this next chapter as an AMFT and look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside the clients I have the privilege of working with.
