Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee & Professional Clinical Counselor Trainee
Hi, I'm Emma Wilson, and I'm so glad to be part of the Orion and Roosevelt community through One Life Counseling Center. I work with elementary students navigating anxiety, big emotions, peer conflict, family stress, and the everyday challenges of growing up.
My approach is relationship-first. From there, I draw on art therapy, movement therapy, play therapy, CBT and DBT-informed skills, and mindfulness, depending on what each student needs, always working toward building emotional awareness and practical coping skills they can carry with them.
My path to counseling started in the classroom. I spent several years teaching kindergarten, first grade, and physical education before deciding to pursue my master's in clinical psychology. Teaching showed me just how much a student's well-being shapes their ability to learn, connect, and thrive, and it's what pulled me toward this work. I try to bring that same classroom-informed perspective into every session: an understanding of what kids face day-to-day, and patience for the process of growth.
Outside of school, I'm usually playing soccer, catching a live concert, or at the beach. These things keep me grounded and remind me to bring energy and joy into my work with students. I'm honored to be part of each child's journey, and my goal is to help every student I work with feel safe, supported, and understood.
