Joseph Warner (he/him)
Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #143565
Joseph came to the field of therapy through over a decade of community-based work in San Francisco, where he supported children, families, and neighbors as a classroom educator, service worker, and wellness advocate. He holds a BA in Psychology with an emphasis in Holistic Health and Psychophysiology from San Francisco State University and has long been drawn to the intersections of body, mind, and relational healing. Joseph ultimately pursued a master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), a program whose values of social equity, wholeness, and depth psychology aligned with his own. He completed his clinical training at Pierce Street Integral Counseling Center, where he later served as clinic manager, T-Group facilitator, and administrator for the CIIS School of Professional Psychology and Health.
Joseph completed over two years of supervision with Mena Zaminsky, PsyD, LMFT, whose training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy continues to influence his clinical work. He also completed an EFT Couples Externship, further deepening his commitment to attachment-focused care, relational safety, and somatic attunement. Drawing from this foundation alongside his lived experiences and values, Joseph supports clients through meaningful change. He is also shaped by his ongoing membership in a men’s group rooted in mutual vulnerability, compassion, and repair.
Therapy with Joseph is collaborative, integrative, and deeply attuned to each client’s experience. He works with individuals, couples, teens, and families to explore their internal world while navigating the external systems of culture, identity, and relationship. His approach blends cognitive, somatic, and relational tools and draws from frameworks such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, psychodynamic theory, and narrative practice. In session, Joseph meets clients with curiosity, responsiveness, and a commitment to transformation. His work weaves emotional presence with practical tools to help clients reconnect with their values, revise limiting narratives, and take meaningful steps toward growth.
Outside of therapy, Joseph finds restoration through movement, relationships, and time in nature. He ends most workdays with physical practice including integrative strength training, yoga, running, and time in the sauna. He cherishes being outdoors with his partner and their border collie, Freya, exploring the coastline, parks, and trails of the Bay Area. Joseph is a lover of music, blueberries, avocados, and chocolate, a budding gardener, and a community builder who brings the same warmth, curiosity, and integrity to his personal life that he does to his work. Those who know him experience a presence marked by generosity, groundedness, and the belief that healing happens in relationship.
