Suzie Hughes

Founder and Executive Director

Suzanne Hughes is the founder and Executive Director of One Life Counseling Center, a thriving nonprofit that she has helped grow from a small, three-person therapy center in 2015 to a multi-program, 150-person organization serving the mid-Peninsula community. With nearly 30 years of experience in the mental health field, Suzanne is passionate about supporting individuals, families, and communities through life’s most challenging moments.

In 2023, Suzanne was honored to be named Woman of the Year in San Mateo County, a testament to her deep commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of those around her. She is especially passionate about her role at One Life Counseling Center, where she oversees a variety of programs aimed at providing accessible mental health services, trauma recovery, and personal growth.

Before stepping into her full-time role at One Life, Suzanne spent 15 years at Puente de la Costa Sur in Pescadero, working with at-risk teens and creating innovative programs to support their growth and development. Her work in the community has given her an in-depth understanding of the resources available to individuals and families, as well as the importance of collaboration with outside agencies.

Suzanne is also fluent in Spanish and has provided training in a variety of areas, including parenting teens in the digital age, grief recovery, and self-care for mothers. She is the founder of Project Lost and Found, a grief support website, and serves as a Subject Matter Expert for the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

When she’s not focusing on her work, Suzanne finds joy in exploring mindfulness and yoga, as well as spending quality time with her children and traveling the world.

Although Suzanne has spent over two decades in private practice, she is no longer offering therapy services in private practice. She is fully dedicated to her work as Executive Director and is not available for individual therapy or counseling.
